SAME TE Open Source – Contributing to the Growth of Digital Products

Alongside our commercial projects, SAME TE STUDIO voluntarily contributes to the development of open digital products by localizing interfaces into Ukrainian, testing software, reporting bugs, helping developers improve their products, and sharing useful open-source tools with the community.

SAME TE Open Source is an initiative through which the SAME TE STUDIO team voluntarily contributes to the development of open digital products and the professional technology community.

This is not a commercial service or client work. We independently choose the products, tools, and challenges where we believe we can make a meaningful contribution – whether by creating a Ukrainian localization, testing functionality, reporting issues, suggesting technical improvements, or publishing our own open-source tools.

We work with platforms, libraries, plugins, APIs, and modern technologies every day. That’s why we believe it’s important not only to benefit from the work of the open-source community, but also to give something back by sharing our own knowledge and experience.

Building a Better Ukrainian Digital Experience

One of the key focus areas of SAME TE Open Source is the localization of digital products into Ukrainian.

Many valuable services, plugins, platforms, and tools still lack complete Ukrainian language support. Some interfaces remain partially untranslated, terminology is often inconsistent, and machine translations frequently fail to reflect real-world context or user experience.

Our work goes beyond translating individual strings. During the localization process, we verify how translations actually appear and function inside the product, including:

  • settings and configuration pages;
  • forms and validation messages;
  • user dashboards;
  • checkout and purchasing workflows;
  • system notifications;
  • mobile interfaces;
  • emails and notifications;
  • scenarios involving different user roles.

Our goal is not simply to translate software, but to ensure that it feels natural, intuitive, and understandable for Ukrainian-speaking users.

Helping Products Become More Stable

While working with digital products, we regularly encounter software bugs, compatibility issues, interface inconsistencies, and unexpected behavior.

Within a commercial project, it is often sufficient to implement a local workaround. However, when the issue originates from the product itself and may affect other users, we try to report it directly to the development team.

Depending on the situation, the SAME TE STUDIO team may:

  • reproduce the issue in a testing environment;
  • document the exact reproduction steps;
  • prepare screenshots, screen recordings, or technical logs;
  • identify the possible root cause;
  • create an issue report;
  • suggest a possible solution;
  • submit a pull request;
  • test the updated version;
  • verify compatibility with related components.

Rather than simply reporting that “something is broken,” we aim to provide developers with enough information to investigate and resolve issues efficiently.

Open-Source Tools

Throughout our work on client and internal projects, we develop small tools, modules, technical solutions, and reusable components.

Whenever such a solution can be separated from a specific project, stripped of confidential information, and made useful for others, we may release it as open source.

These contributions may include:

  • plugins and modules;
  • integration components;
  • code snippets;
  • blocks and templates;
  • API examples;
  • automation tools;
  • technical documentation;
  • developer utilities;
  • configuration guides;
  • testing utilities.

We do not aim to publish everything we create. For SAME TE Open Source, practical value, quality, and long-term maintainability are more important than the number of published projects.

Why We Do It

Open-source software forms the foundation of a large portion of today’s digital ecosystem. Nearly every website, application, or online platform relies on libraries, frameworks, plugins, modules, or other community-driven technologies.

For SAME TE STUDIO, contributing to open source is an opportunity to:

  • support the growth of the Ukrainian digital ecosystem;
  • make useful software more accessible in Ukrainian;
  • improve the tools we use ourselves;
  • share practical technical knowledge;
  • help developers identify issues more quickly;
  • build solutions that benefit more than a single project;
  • contribute to the professional technology community.

This is a voluntary initiative of our team. We are not paid for most of these contributions and independently decide which projects we can support based on our expertise, available time, and the potential value they can provide to the community.

Areas of Contribution

Ukrainian Localization

Translation and maintenance of Ukrainian versions of digital platforms, plugins, services, and software tools.

Testing

Verification of functionality, localization quality, compatibility, and real-world user scenarios.

Bug Reports

Reproducing, documenting, and reporting software issues to product development teams.

Technical Improvements

Suggestions for improving stability, integrations, user interfaces, performance, and user experience.

Open-Source Tools

Publishing our own modules, code snippets, reusable components, and other technical solutions.

Documentation

Creating practical guides, technical documentation, and educational resources for users and developers.

Let’s Improve Open Products Together

We are always open to collaborating with developers, technology teams, and members of the open-source community who are building useful digital products.

You can contact us regarding:

  • missing or incomplete Ukrainian localization;
  • issues that are difficult to reproduce;
  • integration-related bugs;
  • testing requests;
  • documentation improvements;
  • open-source projects that could benefit from our expertise.

All requests are reviewed based on the priorities and available capacity of the SAME TE Open Source initiative. As this is a voluntary community effort, submitting a request does not guarantee that we will accept the task or complete it within a specific timeframe.

We don’t just build websites and custom solutions for our clients — we also develop our own products. This is the focus of our R&D division – Same Te Labs
